About
Dr. William J. Steele III is a board certified neurosurgeon licensed in the state of Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Austin where he attended LC Anderson High School. He was first team all-state his senior year in football at the tight end position.
He studied Philosophy at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Mortarboard Top 50 Seniors Honor Society. He then attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine graduating at the top of his class with AOA distinction in 2013.
Dr. Steele completed his neurosurgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston including a rotation at St. George’s Hospital in London, UK. During residency, his research fellowship focused on spinal cord injury and developing a novel method for wireless ventral stimulation of the cervical spinal cord.
He received advanced training at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL completing a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. His thorough training has allowed him to gain extensive experience in the most complex cases. He joined Neurosugical Group of Texas following his fellowship in 2021.
Dr. Steele treats a variety of neurosurgical conditions and is focused on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for diseases of the spine and cares for patients with a wide range of spinal disorders. He has extensive experience in conservative and surgical treatment options. His clinical interests include robotics, endoscopic spine surgery, and complex deformity.
He and his wife live in Houston with their four children. He enjoys spending his free time with his family.
