Dr. Richard L. Harper is licensed in the State of Texas and graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa in Plan II Honors Program, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston graduating with honors and completed an internship in straight surgery in Baylor’s affiliated program. After serving in active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, Dr. Harper returned to Baylor for specialty training in a neurosurgery residency. He began his affiliation with The Neurosurgical Group of Houston in 1978. Dr. Harper's hospital staff appointments include: The Methodist Hospital, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Texas Orthopedic Hospital. He serves as clinical associate professor, Department of Neurosurgery and Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine and is chairman of numerous hospital staff committees. His extensive medical writings include published articles in Advances in Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Cancer Drug Delivery, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundations, Inc. and many others.
