since 1975. He was born and raised in Eagle Lake, Texas, and graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Episilon fraternity. He received his M.D. degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Following his internship at the Ben Taub and Methodist Hospitals, he served as a captain and flight surgeon in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Korea. His neurosurgery training was completed at the Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals in 1975. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Baylor College of Medicine and is involved in neurosurgery resident training. He recently co-authored "Surgical Outpatient Treatment of Cervical Radiculopathy" which appeared in the July 1997 issue of The Journal of Neurosurgery. In addition to articles in the Journal of Neurosurgery he has published in the journal Spine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Harris County Medical Society, the Houston Surgical Society, the Houston Neurological Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Parker is active in civic affairs including service with the Chancellor's Council at the University of Texas System, the College of Natural Sciences Advisory Council, and the Texas Longhorn Educational Foundation of the University of Texas at Austin. He also serves the Society of Physicians of St. Luke. |
